The North East of England has its roots in shipbuilding, fishing, coal-mining and heavy
industry. Berwick in north Northumberland marks the border between England and Scotland and
the Roman remains of Hadrian's Wall are still visible as are many Roman forts between Wallsend
and Carlisle. Try the Bigg Market and Quayside in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne if you're looking for a great night out. Gateshead boasts one of the very few floating nightclubs in the country in the Tuxedo Royale. The coast of Northumberland has some of the finest beaches in the country but don't forget to bring warm clothing, even in summer.
